Bristol, England, December 14th, 2006 – Nanotech Semiconductor Limited ("Nanotech"), a fabless IC company specializing in advanced Analog & Mixed-Signal ICs for Communications applications, today announced the appointment of Christian Rookes as Business Development Manager for glass fiber products.
Christian has a joint honors degree in Physics and Electronics from Loughborough University that included a sandwich year in industry working for Siemens AG in Nuremberg, Germany, designing infrared communications products. After graduating, Christian spent seven years in R&D at Hewlett-Packard/Agilent Technologies UK fiber optic transceiver design centre. As a principal design engineer and technical lead Christian was responsible for developing single mode transceiver products, including the world's first low cost 2.5Gbit/s SM datacom transceiver, for high volume manufacture in Asia. Christian then joined Phyworks Ltd to initiate their applications group, achieving multiple design wins with brand new fiber IC products at major US, Japanese and Asian module vendors within the telecom, storage and FTTh markets. Christian held the position of Product Manager before leaving Phyworks.

Steve Cliffe, VP Sales & Marketing, commented: "Christian's rare combination of technical and commercial experience in fiber IC technology compliments and enhances an already strong marketing team."

Christian added: "I am looking forward to bringing my familiarity and experience of fiber products to Nanotech in order to grow their already formidable product offering and further deliver exactly what our customers want: The highest performance, on the lowest-cost process; pure-CMOS."
