Bristol, England, June, 2nd, 2010 - Nanotech Semiconductor Limited ("Nanotech"), a fabless IC company specializing in advanced CMOS Analog and Mixed-Signal ICs for fiber optic communications, today announced the availability of the NT25L51 – a high sensitivity, low power, pure CMOS 2.5 Gbps TIA targeting GPON applications.
The Company is also announcing the shipment of its 30 millionth IC, less than 6 months after reaching the 20 million milestone. According to industry reports, this would make Nanotech the fastest-growing start-up in the fiber optics IC segment.
The NT25L51 builds on Nanotech’s long-established portfolio of CMOS TIAs for datacom, telecom and FTTh networks. The TIA can achieve typical sensitivities better than -34 dBm at a Bit Error Rate (BER) of 10-10 with an APD photodiode, whilst consuming less than 20 mA typical supply current. This makes the NT25L51 ideally suited for GPON applications that require APD levels of performance coupled with low power consumption.
Whilst delivering world class performance, Nanotech’s latest TIA is simple to use and has a flexible bond pad configuration compatible with all major TO-can layouts. The NT25L51 features left or right side power supply pads, a data polarity invert function and photodiode current mirror that is selectable to sink or source output type.
The NT25L51 is available now in mass-production quantities, along with evaluation material and documentation.
Gary Steele, CEO, commented: "As the NT25L51 is fabricated in pure CMOS at the worlds leading foundry, Nanotech offers a TIA solution that delivers the best performance coupled with high volume capability, short lead time and low cost required for GPON applications. The rapid upturn in demand this year has really helped make our case to customers of the benefits of CMOS technology, and shipping our 30 millionth chip shows customers have welcomed our world-beating portfolio of chipsets".
Christian Rookes, Marketing Manger added: "The NT25L51 provides our customers a route to reduce cost and power consumption in both existing and new designs. As the NT25L51 pad-out is compatible with industry standard TO-can configurations it requires very little design effort too."
